Koru was started by Tom and Hetty to share their passion of kayaking and the incredible coastline of Cornwall. The inspiration came from a guided kayak tour in Abel Tasman on the South island of New Zealand where they realised that the best way to interact with nature was by kayaking. The name Koru refers to a Maori symbol representing the unfurling of the silver fern which symbolises new life, growth, strength and peace. Cornwall has an impressive and varied coastline and the three adventures allow the public to experience this first hand.
Tom and Hetty, are both guides and are members of St Agnes Pilot Gig Club and compete in rowing competitions on the open sea around the South West and in the International Tournament in the Isles of Scilly.
